\body
Dear Dan:

Thanks for your letter of September 23. As you see, letters
about money tend to go to the bottom of my stack.
I have two problems.

1. How was the 58,000 francs supposedly paid? If it was supposedly
transferred to my Marseilles bank account, it seems to have never
got there.

2. In your file about me there should already be a statement about
times in which I worked on the Library Project here and in France
covering the payment agreed it the original JJSS letter. It covered,
together with payment previously made, almost all of the 100,000 francs
provided for in that letter.

\closing
Sincerely,

John McCarthy
